On Dental Implants’ Strength

Are dental implants stronger than natural teeth? In 2013, a group of dentists found out that natural teeth are no different from prosthetics in terms of survivability, especially when proper oral hygiene is a factor. The researchers even recommended holding on to problem teeth for as long as possible.

Without a doubt, everyone should try to preserve natural teeth as much as possible through good oral care. This includes regular cleaning, avoiding teeth-decaying food, and visiting the dentist regularly. With proper care, natural teeth can last an entire lifetime.

However, losing a permanent tooth or more is something that many people have to deal with for a number of reasons. Tooth decay remains the leading cause of tooth loss. Others include gum diseases and traumas from accidents. To someone who has lost permanent teeth, dental implants provide the best alternative in teeth replacement.

Comparisons to natural teeth’s strength notwithstanding, dental implants are, in fact, very durable, considering that the implants bond permanently with the user’s jawbone. Also, unlike natural teeth, they are resistant to decay. Their strength and structure allow dental implants to perform very much like natural teeth, which helps restore the user’s oral digestive functions and facial muscles, and thus improve overall heath.
